Sears India joins the nation in condoling the sad demise of Padmashree Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
A two minute silence was observed by all associates and the leadership team on the 28th of July to pay respects to the visionary.

Kalam has been a role model for the youth of India and his books and speeches are shared and re-shared by young blood.

Many associates in Sears India have been inspired by the words of Kalam. One associate expressed, "This is a great loss. I will not be able to forget his words for a long time. He taught me how to dream."

Another associate, quite overwhelmed by the gesture, remarked,

“For me, he has been a model for various reasons:
Can you find anyone more Ground-to-earth and humble than this jewel of India.
A truly knowledgeable person who had more hunger for knowledge than anything else in the world.
A guy with an extraordinary value system who first practiced and then preached.
A visionary with an achievable action list.
An individual who took immense care of his co-workers and their well-being.
A leader who chose to create a path, lead it from the front and motivated enough to sprout followers of all ages just by his determination, deeds and inspiration.
He would be a star, ever shining, in the sky.
I pray to God for his soul to rest in peace.”

Sears India mourns the loss of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, a visionary who inspired millions in his lifetime with his thoughts on dreaming big for success. Kalam was an aeronautics engineer from Madras Institute of Technology, and the brain behind the success of the Pokhran nuclear test in 1998.

Abdul Kalam R.I.P

Popularly known as the 'Missile Man', Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam rose from humble origins to Presidency, clearly inspiring millions like him to dream their dreams to make them come true. Kalam liked Carnatic music and loved to play the Veena.

Some words to remember him by

"Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work."

"You have to dream before your dreams can come true."

"My message, especially to young people is to have courage to think differently, courage to invent, to travel the unexplored path, courage to discover the impossible and to conquer the problems and succeed."

Sears India has successfully retained the ISO 20000 Certification for the year 2015. Through the two-day exhaustive surveillance audit, all the IT service management processes were audited, and they met the BSI expectations with some observations.

An ISO Certification is testimony of an organization’s capability to

(a) Understand its customers’ needs and respond to them
(b) Deliver quality services
(c) Use its resources judiciously in terms of costs

Clearing the certification means Sears India falls under the standard ISO model which comes with a set of service management system requirements for any service provider. It also means that Sears India uses an integrated process approach, thereby improving their overall Service Management System.

Sears India celebrated the International Yoga Day on Friday, 19st of June, 2015, by inviting a Yoga expert into its premises and getting associates to participate in an hour of essential Yoga postures especially for corporate people. As executives who spend long hours on their desks and primarily lead a sedentary lifestyle, associates felt that the Yoga postures taught by the trainer, especially those that centered around stretching the back and shoulders, were very useful.

VP and MD of Sears India Alok Kumar led everyone by participating and the entire floor followed him with great enthusiasm.

Sears India is very cognizant of the wellbeing of its associates. Associates are taken care of, in various ways, and Yoga day is an opportunity to spread awareness about the importance of leading a stress free life.
